This is “In Our Carts,” a monthly series in which I’ll round up my and other editors’ favorite product launches. They’re taken straight from our #editors-picks Slack channel, where our team drops the many press releases that fill our inboxes. I sort through them for the best of the best. That way, you can read just about the good stuff—nothing more and nothing less.

The ceramics and homewares from North Carolina-based brand East Fork have always had an artistic edge to them, but the latest release draws all of its inspiration from Founder & CEO Alex Matisse’s own heritage. The Matisse Collection is a new permanent addition to East Fork’s line of pottery, it pays homage to Matisse’s great-grandfather, the French painter Henri Matisse. Beautiful motifs from works such as Bédouine au grand voile (1947), Nadia au regard sérieux (1948), Le Platane (1951), and the series Nu bleu (1952) can be seen across plates, platters, and mugs, and dinnerware is awash a new ocean blue hue titled La Sirène.

When we first saw the scintillating shapes of the new Bar/Giani collection from Nude Glass, we knew we had a winner on our hands. Together with mixologist Giorgio Bargiani of London’s The Connaught, the pair dreamt up a group of six glasses that bring elegant proportions and graceful silhouettes to the table. We are particular fans of the Short and Long versions, which feel right at home as water vessels or for interesting cocktails. We could even see red wine in them.

We’re a little obsessed with the 2-liter size (think large soda bottle) of Diptyque’s amazing diffuser, which helped our contributing style editor Julia Stevens kick her candle habit. If you have a large foyer, an expansive primary bathroom, or a large open-format living/dining room, this one’s for you. The scents available are Baies, 34, and Ambre, and a new stopper now allows for temporarily pausing diffusion.

Tulip

Drum Pearl Light Shade

We appreciate Tulip for many reasons, chief among them that they quickly and painlessly cover up boob-shaped lights that are ubiquitous in rentals and builder-grade homes. The whimsical shapes are perfect for kids’ rooms and nurseries, so we were delighted to see the brand release a child-specific line with illustrator Pauline de Roussy de Sales. The colors are muted and sweet, and the Gem and Drum shapes are available in the Stebbins design, a tribute to Central Park and Emma Stebbins, the sculptor behind the Bethesda Fountain.

With a new 155 GSM fabric weight, 14% increase in weft yarns (horizontal threads), and fabric that’s dyed before it’s sewn, the brand has invested heavily in tensile strength, which really just means it won’t tear or wear down as easily as previous iterations. They’ve also secured a Certified 100% European Flax certification, which makes its sustainable, GMO-free flax from Western Europe fully traceable.

On a rooftop in downtown Manhattan on a perfect spring day, we caught a first glimpse of the ceramic and blown glass collaboration between il Buco founder Donna Leonard and interior designer David Netto. The pair decided to create a set of dinnerware that would set the table at the ultimate garden party, and what they came up with wouldn’t be out of place in the shadow of a Tuscan villa. The sunny yellow—a Netto signature—splashed across il Buco Vita’s Montegranaro ceramics and the negroni- and emerald green-hued Pienza glassware combine in way that is emblematic of both creatives’ styles.

Japanese Kitchen Brand Kama-Asa Opened Its U.S. Store

kama asa

Classic tabletop charcoal grills, cooking chopsticks, and more Japanese kitchen tools have now landed in Brooklyn at Kama-Asa’s first U.S. store. Housed alongside a gaggle of mini-shops from Balmuda, Cibone-Ote, and Dashi Okume, which are all located at 50 Norman, Kama-Asa brings the best of Tokyo’s Kappabashi to New York. If you can’t make it to the mini-mall (and we suggest you do if you are in NYC) consider shopping the online store; be wary that customs and taxes may apply to overseas shipping due to tariffs.
